Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy

Last evening my wife and I went for a walk on the grounds of the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy. It was a hot, humid evening but there was much to enjoy. The grounds of the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy consists of both meadow and woodland and is located along the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek near Schwenksville, Montgomery Co., PA. Below are some of the sights we enjoyed.

A wildflower commonly known as Butter and Eggs

This particular plant was growing along a hedge row next to the meadow.

Part of the meadow we explored
Earlier we had seen a 6 point buck run right in front of us.

Mushrooms and fungi fascinate me

  1. Tim, the mushrooms are too red, better you don't taste them : I'm not sure they are edible ! Although the water seems to be fresh the river may be dangerous. Happily the deer is not a wolf and the wild flowers are very pretty...

  5. Thanks, cergie. I always enjoy your comments. :) Don't worry, we don't eat wild mushrooms; we didn't go in the creek though it wasn't very deep; and wolves don't live around here.

Hi, forestal. Thanks for coming by. It is a great place to spend some time. And the 2nd plant might be milkweed; but I wasn't certain; it looks a little different than the milkweed I remember as a child.

Thanks, sue anne. Glad you enjoyed the pics. The creek is beautiful; but my camera can never do it justice.

Thanks, ginnie. I like the name, too. That's what I knew it as from childhood on up.
