The Beauty of Spring

Today was a beautiful Spring day in the mid seventies degrees Fahrenheit. While grilling cheesburgers this evening, I took the following photos around home. It's a fun time. :)

 A beautiful red-flowering shrub

 A forsythia beginning to bloom

A hyacinth in our flower bed

Beautiful crocuses in our neighbor's flowerbed

Another sign of spring - charcoal grilling has begun

 Smoking good burgers

Delicious charcoal-grilled cheeseburgers just about ready to be eaten :)

Univest Grand Prix Bike Race

This past Saturday, September 17, I watched a large part of the Univest Grand Prix, a 100 mile bike race centering in Souderton, Montgomery County, PA consisting of 150 riders from 26 teams. The race is international and consisted of riders from the following countries: USA, Australia, Canada, Cuba, Sweden, Ukraine, Russia, Italy, New Zealand, Argentina, Belarus, Hungary, and Luxembourg. It was great fun to watch the riders. The winner was Canadian Ryan Roth from Team SpiderTech who completed the race in three hours, fifty two minutes, and twenty seven seconds. At one time,  I dreamed of riding like them. That will no longer happen; though before I was married, I did once complete a 100 mile bike ride in Lancaster County, PA. However, below are some photos from this amazing bike race.

Toadstools and More after Hurricane Irene

Today I took time to wander around the lawn at home. One of the highlights were the toadstools that sprung up as Hurricane Irene moved on. Toadstools and fungi in general fascinate me and are an item of beauty to me. So below are some of the highlights of my wanderings this afternoon. Among some of the toadstools, I  love the combination of reds, yellows, and browns.

A Bit of Nature at Home

Life has been pretty busy this past week so I thought I would display a bit of nature from my backyard. There's something beautiful to be seen just about everywhere.

Signs of Spring

This past Thursday I went for a walk around my home town enjoying the many sights of Spring. Here are some of the highlights from that walk.

Along the hedgerow where we live

This tree is the first one to bloom every Spring.

There's something special about this clump of daffodils.

I love the blue of these blossoms.

A beautiful row of forsythias along an old barn

Even a few tulips blooming already

One of my favorite spring wildflowers
