A Cold Weather Hike at Green Lane Reservoir

My wife and I went for a short hike late in the morning on January 14 at Green Lane Reservoir in Montgomery County, PA just off of Knight Road. It was another cold morning in which one needed to bundle up in several layers of clothing. Nevertheless it was a beautiful hike as demonstrated by the pictures below:

 Beautiful red berries

 The Woods

 Blue berries on an evergreen

 Moss

Ice formations ground level along the path

Lichen and moss on a tree trunk

 Lichen growing on a stone

 More moss on the ground

 Moss?

 In memory of ???

 Pattern on ice

 Moss on a fallen trunk

Yours truly

  1. Hey Tim, Looks like you had a great walk in the forest, I noticed you have no snow. We got our snow last Saturday, I thing it will stay now until spring. Have a great week and stay warm.

    1. Thanks, Horst. It was a fun walk. We only had one major snow this season back in the end of October. The winter here has been warmer than usual over all.

  3. Cold weather is here too finally. All seems different then. It is the magic of a true winter.
The berries (wild rose berries ?) were not yet frost enough though.

  4. We also have a cold weather and tomorrow will be plenty of snow.

I always wanted to say that you have a talent for photographing little and interesting moments. I try to see through your eyes nature but I can't find these interesting moments. I created an excuse for myself that nature is different in Utah but I know that this is only an excuse.

I love very much these blue berries covered with snow. Moss in your picture created a beautiful abstract pattern. Everything is very striking and always touching. Simple and extremely beautiful.

    Greetings from Kaya.
