Web Design Studies - Beatrice's Spa And Beauty Salon

For about a year now, I have been taking an online Web Design certificate program of study through Sessions College. One of my recent assignments was to create a fictional web site for Beatrice's Spa and Beauty Salon. Feel free to check it out and tell me what you think. I've been really enjoying this program of study but it has also been one of a couple reasons I have not been more active with my blog. I'm currently working on creating a fictional web site for a Cajun restaurant.

High Rocks State Park, Bucks Co., PA

Yesterday afternoon my wife and I went for a hike at High Rocks State Park. Along the Tohickon Creek, there are some fairly high rocky bluffs. Often in the fall, it can be a great place to see colored leaves though not so much this year with the very dry summer into September. It was a beautiful sunny day for our hike though the bright sun contrasting with the darker areas of the woods made for difficult photography. Nevertheless here are a few pics from our day.

At one point, we almost stepped on this creature.

About a week ago, my wife and I spent a few days up near Limerick, Maine at a friend's cabin. Here are a few nature photos from the trip.

Nature Photos from a Friend's Backyard

Last evening my wife and I were at a swim party at a friend's home in a country setting. During a small part of that time I chose to do some nature photography. Below are three of those photos.

I'm told this is a moth but I don't know what kind.
Can you tell me it's name?

A Visit with my Nephews on my Wife's Side

Around a week and a half ago, we spent some time with my wife's nephews. It was a very good evening. Below are some of the activities we did with them.

Playing Connect Four

A few rounds of Uno

Working at a Noah's Ark puzzle

Closer to completion :)
It was amazing how interested and well he did the puzzle.

Jim Thorpe

This past Friday, my wife and I spent a good part of the day in the Jim Thorpe area of Carbon County, Pennsylvania. Not all went as planned. We would have liked to do more hiking. But at least now we're better acquainted with the area should we go back. Below are some of the things we did and saw.

At the local train station

I took this photo out the window as we rounded the corner.
Some day we would like to ride our bikes on the path beside the tracks.

There's an old train tunnel going into the side of the hill on the left.
This shows a section of the Lehigh River.

This scene gives me a sense of old-fashion contentment.

Home of Asa Parker - an old time railroad magnate
The interior of this home is quite ornate; it was worth touring.
Unfortunately interior photography is not allowed there.

Peace Valley Park

This past Saturday evening my wife and I enjoyed a walk in Peace Valley Park near Doyletown, Bucks County, PA. My wife commented that this park was appropriately named even with the many people that come here. It was a place where peace dwelt at least that evening.

Sometime my wife and I want to go paddle boating here.

There is something artistic about a colorful grouping of canoes.
